Depression

Do you feel sad or constantly irritated?
Do you have trouble getting out of bed every day?
Are you struggling to find enjoyment in things you used to love?
If you suffer from depression, Psychotherapy and/or Neurofeedback may be able to help you step out of the dark shadow that you feel you live in and find joy in life again.
WITH DEPRESSION, EVERY DAY IS A BATTLE
Millions of people across North America suffer from depression. It stops you from living your life to its fullest as you struggle with pain and frustration. For some, depression comes suddenly and unexpectedly, while others have lived with depression their entire life. For everyone suffering from depression, happy moments are rare, even surrounded by friends and loved ones.
TREATMENTS CAN INCLUDE A COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Psychotherapy (in person or virtual)
- Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback and Depression
Rather than teaching you to simply cope with the symptoms, Neurofeedback targets the underlying brain function that causes the symptoms of depression. For those suffering from depression, EEG studies have found imbalances and underactivation in the brain, particularly in the left frontal area. This causes an asymmetry associated with sadness, decreased motivation, and difficulty concentrating. For those showing this profile, Neurofeedback often begins with regulating this area of the brain.
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH NEUROFEEDBACK
Neurofeedback treatment provides both short-term and long-term results for those living with depression. In the short-term, those who have undergone Neurofeedback treatment feel more motivated and have more energy. With further training, you will also find your emotions to be more stable, while feelings of sadness or agitation recede. You will start feeling happy more often and can engage in a life you want. No two people experience depression the same way, so you can discuss the various treatment options with one of our clinicians at the Toronto Neurofeedback and Psychotherapy Centre (TNPC) to take the first step. Your intake appointment will discuss all the options available at TNPC.
